Health and safety officer on 3 projects with largest being the Carlow Town main drainage and flood relief scheme. Main emphasis was advising site mangement on all aspects of E.H.S issues. Carrying out training and organising external training was a considerable part of the planning for works.A key element of the works from an environmental perspective was the area of monitoring as in noise monitoring and the monitoring of water in two local rivers.
In conjunction with the day to day running of the site , the company was also in the process of trying to achieve OHSAS 18001 accreditation, which they successfully did in December 2010. To achieve this I was heavily involved in training site teams on what was required and also implementing the accreditation systems.

Initially starting out as a junior safety officer, day to day responsibilities would have included site inductions, auditing & inspections, preparing and reviewing risk assessments, organising training and toolbox talks and accident/incident investigation.
Having progressed to the role of Senior Safety Officer, additional responsibilities also included development of company safety policy, involvement in work groups such as the environmental committee, pre qualification tendering work.
